Optics or Iron Sights?
Just wanted to know what you guys all run. I want to know your gear preferences. I personally prefer Eotechs because they have great field of vision but for airsoft I just run my iron sights

I always prefer optics once zero'd in. If your gun has an fps of 330fos and below i will use a red dot or some non zoom optics. If ,y gun has a higher fps and a good hop up I will use a x4 zoom scope, this way I can see exactly what my bbs are doing and to adjust accordingly

no real preference, just point, shoot lol

Re: Optics or Iron Sights?
If you run magnified optics, you are gonna want some sort of close range backup. Piggybacking irons(like on some ACOG models) or micro red dots works. You can also slap on a 45 degree micro red dot or set of irons, helps with the parallax/sight over bore a lot better.
If you run non magnified, battery powered sights like an Aimpoint or EoTech, it is a very good idea to have back up irons that co-witness with your sight. Remember that iron sights don't run out of batteries.

Re: Optics or Iron Sights?
I've used a red-dot sight and iron sights and there's pros and cons to each of them. I used the red-dot for the first time at cqb last month and it worked well but it was difficult to see the trajectory of the bb. I tend to watch the path of the bb and walk my shots when using iron sights and I could not really do that with the red-dot.

Haha this is true.
While it is nice to have back up iron sites or some form of close quarters sighting in airsoft I haven't found it to be mandatory. My acog hasn't stopped me for cqc before.

agreed, while optics are beneficial in some ways, they are detrimental in others. i've found that i dont use optics alot, but that is because i've had plenty of experience with my gun and know how its going to shoot.

The ability to point and shoot from the shoulder at close range is always something to be considered. Optics or Irons aren't necessarily needed so much as they are nice to have.

Re: Optics or Iron Sights?
yup, they add to the overall look of the gun. (and of course function like so when you use them)
